X is pretty bad, so it should not even be considered an option. It is considered a mainstream social media site, which automatically makes it bad. The fact that it's owned by Musk makes it even worse. So X shouldn't ever, ever be in the picture.
Reddit is bad too (ever since the whole API fiasco), but at least it's not as bad as X. There are some very handy subreddits like r/sysadmin that has a big following which is a great resource for system administrators.
Finally, both are different types of sites aren't really comparable. If you want to compare X, compare it with Bluesky, Mastodon etc.
If you want to compare Reddit, compare it with Lemmy, Tildes, Kbin etc.
I came into this thread with the same question in mind. Then I looked at the poster, who created their account less than an hour ago. I'm going to move on to something else now.
